Editorial Staff

James Ledbetter is the editor of The Big Money. Previously, he was deputy managing editor of CNN Money and Fortune.com. He is the former business editor of Time Europe and former editor of the Industry Standard Europe. He is the editor of Dispatches for the New York Tribune: Selected Journalism of Karl Marx and the author of Made Possible By ...: The Death of Public Broadcasting in the United States. He is currently working on a book about Eisenhower's farewell address and the concept of the military-industrial complex.

Elinor Shields is deputy editor of The Big Money. Previously, she was managing editor of the Huffington Post. Shields has also worked as a senior journalist at BBCNews.com in London and as a reporter for Time Europe. Shields has a degree in international relations from the London School of Economics and a degree in history from Cambridge.

Chadwick Matlin is the staff writer for The Big Money. Previously, he was the visiting Dutko Fellow at Slate, where he covered the 2008 primaries and managed Slate's suite of interactive election tools. A graduate of Tufts University, Matlin has previously worked for ABC and WBUR, Boston's NPR affiliate. He has also produced pieces for PBS's The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer and co-founded MaptheCandidates.com. He can be reached by e-mail here.

Caitlin McDevitt is the editorial assistant for The Big Money. Previously, she was an editorial intern at Inc. magazine, where she covered small business and entrepreneurship. A 2008 graduate of Georgetown University, Caitlin has also worked at Newsweek and Washingtonpost.com.
