Cramer Gets His Bonus

Cramer Gets His Bonus

When the banks win, he wins.

How have events shaped the cultural scene versus the policy scene? The Big Money has been disappointed by the paucity of opportunities for President Obama to show off the brands in our portfolio; he's too busy governing. He has even promoted companies in Cramer's portfolio. His stimulus-promoting tour took him to Caterpillar's plant in East Peoria, Ill. on Feb. 12, where he said the stimulus plan would lead to more hiring at the embattled construction equipment manufacturer. The move may have backfired, as Caterpillar CEO Jim Owens said that although he supported the stimulus, the plan probably wouldn't lead to immediate job creation. And neither portfolio has fully recovered from the impact of the post-inauguration market downturn, or the negative reaction to Timothy Geithner's bank rescue announcement.

Update, July 17, 4:30 p.m. ET: Cramer's portfolio was boosted this week by JPMorgan Chase & Co.'s (JPM) strong earnings announcement. It reported a $2.7 billion profit—results that suggest that the bank is not only making a turnaround but is also staking its claim as one of the few powerhouses left on Wall Street. Its stock value has risen a whopping 76 percent since January. Betting on banks this year was risky business, but it appears Cramer's picks—JPMorgan and Wells Fargo (WFC) (up 49 percent since January)—have paid off for him so far. Still, their bounce-back hasn't been enough to move his portfolio ahead of ours. And the clock is ticking for his turnaround. As the president's first six months in office comes to a close early next week, Portfoli-O will be laid to rest. Can Cramer make up the $4,161 difference in one trading day? Anything is possible, but it would take a lightning-paced rally.

The Big Money: $15,195.05 (up 51.95 percent since the inauguration)

Cramer: $11,034.43 (up 10.34 percent since the inauguration)

Father's Day gift

Father's Day is now approaching. You need to go out and get a Father's Day Gift. You spent more time thinking about what you were getting for Mother's Day – admit it – and you should do more for the other person who gave you life. (It takes two to tango, so to speak.) The role of the father is just as important, and getting a few holiday gift ideas, maybe some advance loans to do something nice for dear old Dad would be a great idea. (Mom didn't teach you how to do a brake job, change a flat, or use power tools, now did she? Fess up!) Some short term loans to do something nice or a great Father's Day gift would be well spent.
