Ratings Methodology and The Big Money Profiles

Overview

  • The data and ratings methodology are supplied by IW Financial, which specializes in environmental, social, and governance issues.

  • Companies are rated on their performances in the areas included in each of the five profiles: "Gay/Lesbian," "Green," "Labor and Human Rights," "Non-Military," and "No Vice." All profiles are weighted equally.

  • IW Financial compiles the ratings by comparing each company with all others in its coverage. It examines approximately 3,400 publicly traded United States companies, including most of the Russell 3,000 and S&P 1,500.

  • A company with the best performance compared with all those evaluated gets a rating of 100, and the worst, a rating of 1. All other firms receive a score that falls within this range.
