KFC Sponsors Road Repairs

I'm not sure what to think about this, but I'm pretty sure I should be appalled: Yum Brands-owned KFC is sponsoring potholes.

That is, the company is sponsoring the filling up of potholes. The maker of "chicken-flavored doughnuts" will choose four cities from among however many express an interest. The company will pay for materials and labor, in some cases stamping the resulting patch with a temporary stencil reading, "Refreshed by KFC."

KFC, of course, serves awful, but awfully tasty, artery-clogging fare, and municipal officials need to decide whether they want to in effect endorse the company's unhealthy products. Recently, a friend of mine, upon finishing the KFC meal he had relished minutes earlier, leaned back and said, "I hate myself." Will city officials with newly smooth roads feel the same way?
