Rice Krispies Claims Immunity

Rice Krispies Claims Immunity

Same deal with Cheerios. General Mills and the FDA are still working out their differences over the company's claims that Cheerios is "clinically proven to lower cholesterol." The FDA maintains that such claims require the agency to designate the product as a drug.

I know that the last box of Cheerios I bought was still making the claim.

According to Wang, Kellogg analyzed the situation and determined that the FDA's rules don't cover its claims for Rice Krispies, because the immunity business is a "structure-function" claim, not a "health claim."

So apparently now we have lawyers determining how far cereal makers can go in trying to bamboozle us.
