Beware the "Bagel-Related Injury"

Last year, 1,979 people were treated in emergency rooms for BRIs—Bagel Related Injuries, the Wall Street Journal reports.

That brow-raising fact comes from an article on the race to create a safer bagel cutter. It's the "Guillotine vs. the Brooklyn Slicer," the headline declares.

But maybe somebody should invent something to make chicken-carving safer—injuries from that activity sent nearly 3,500 people to hospitals last year.
