15 New Android Apps

As developers rush to make applications for the new Android smart phone, PC World has highlighted 15 new services for any prospective G1 geek. Here are the highlights of the, um, highlights.

Beetaun plugs you into a social network in which people post messages about interesting stores, playgrounds, museums, or whatever all over the country. As you move around, a GPS system locates the niftiest joints near you and alerts you to them on Google Maps. The Feeling Lucky score: 6.5.

Biowallet lets you photograph your own eyeball and scan your retina signature into the new phone. From now on, no one can use your phone unless they carve out your eye and wave the bloody orb at the device. The Feeling Lucky meter gives it a very cool 9 out of 10.

CallACab uses GPS software to scan for car services in your area, pulling down the phone numbers for each company. Feeling Lucky says, Eh, why not? 4 out of 10.

FreeFamilyWatch lets you keep tabs on your family like a little Kim Jong-il, brining a little whiff of paranoia to every second of your day. From now on, you can watch as Google Maps plots exactly where your spouse and children are, warning you when they get too close to a high-crime area or a potential environmental hazard. Feeling Lucky says, Calm the fuck down, and gives this neurotic turd a big fat 2.

Ditto for Em-Radar, which scans your immediate surroundings and warns of severe weather conditions and child abductions. Do you really want to know whenever a fog bank drifts in or an Amber Alert goes off? Feeling Lucky says 3 out of 10.
